For Public Comment: The 21st Century Cures Act

cells3The 21st Century Cures Act (House Resolution 6 is a bi-partisan proposal introduced by from Congressman Fred Upton (R-MI) and introduced May 19 2015 and assigned to the House Energy and Commerce Committee chaired by Rep. Upton. Representative Diana DeGette as cosponsor and 230 cosponsors, received a favorable vote of 344 – 77 in the House and on July 13, 2015 was sent to the Senate Committee on Health, Labor and Pensions. It has been called a “breakthrough” [[1]] in bi-partisan politics by none other than former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and is designed to streamline medical interventions for cures.

Abstract: As a non-partisan organization the Policy Center endeavors to help anyone that claims to be a Transhumanist, or can influence Transhuman Policies or issues, with research and reference material along with sound recommendations that improve said policy. Mr. Fizer is looking into a political campaign in the United States and has published a platform, and has previously stated or implied that he is a Transhumanist. It is unimportant whether the TPC or staff members are for or against Mr. Fizer as the Policy Center does not differentiate. This Policy briefly articulates the platform on a point-by-point basis making clear what is good or could be improved related to various issues either transhuman or otherwise; in particular if the platform issues might have legal complications as currently stated. It is the Policy Center’s goals not to be critical as much as to make recommendations on how to fix any issues and be otherwise constructive. Continue reading

For Public Comment: Brain Health Investment via Sugar Consumption Cost Redistribution

Although the overall trends regarding the consumption of added sugars as decreased from 1999-2007, the overall mean intake of added sugars continues to be an area of concern as they exceed the U.S. Dietary Guidelines on recommended intake. Numerous studies show the necessity of sugar on the brains function, however socio-cultural factors, which lead to over consumption on added sugars, contribute to devastating health consequences. This policy brief will outline the trends of sugar consumption in America, the consequential costs of over consumption, how to fiscally curb over consumption, and finally how to use those fiscal gains to reinvest in brain health research spheres. Policy Center Staff Appointments (press)

Pending formal/legal organization, the Foundation Board of Directors is appointing the following individuals to roles within the organization for assessments of white papers; relating to policy issues that will focus on Policy Center activities to drive sound policy on key topics, in line with the mission of the Policy Center.  These people will hold these positions pending formal by-laws adopted by the board granting the Policy Center functional autonomy moving forward; driven by the needs of the community. These Staff members have participated in the development of the initial Guidelines and will be following those Guidelines pending a more formal set of by-laws and guidelines for the organization.
